structural breadth

For a structural breadth, I will be analyzing the effects that Analysis II has on the roof’s structural system. By removing the load of the photovoltaic panels from the roof, the structural system can be significantly reduced. I will redesign a portion of the roof’s structure to reflect this change, and determine the associated effect on cost.

Electrical breadth

For an electrical breadth, I will analyze the impact of the building integrated photovoltaics on the electrical system of the building. By increasing the building’s energy production, it will require less outside electrical energy. This could potentially change the demands and equipment needed to supply the school with electricity.

PENN STATE ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING SENIOR THESIS

The Capstone Project Electronic Portfolio (CPEP) is a web-based project and information center. It contains material produced for a year-long senior thesis class. Its purpose, in addition to providing central storage of individual assignments, is to foster communication and collaboration between students, faculty advisors, course instructors, and industry consultants. This website is dedicated to the research and analysis conducted via guidelines provided by the Penn State Department of Architectural Engineering.
